Jaguar Land Rover hit by cyberattack, production and sales severely disrupted

Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed a major cyber incident that forced the company to shut down systems, severely disrupting production and retail operations worldwide. The Tata Motors owned automaker said there is no evidence at this stage that customer data was compromised. Teams are restoring applications in a controlled manner and dealers are using contingency processes.

The outage has affected core workflows at factories and showrooms, with some retailers unable to register new vehicles. Internal systems were taken offline as a mitigation step, which has slowed order processing and vehicle handovers while recovery continues.

The attack comes amid a broader rise in high impact cyber and ransomware incidents across multiple sectors. Earlier this northern summer, Aflac, Philadelphia Insurance Companies and Erie Insurance reported disruptive intrusions. United Natural Foods disclosed a cyber incident in July that temporarily hindered distribution to grocery clients. The FBI also warned that the Scattered Spider group was targeting the airline sector, and Hawaiian Airlines reported a cybersecurity event in June that affected parts of its IT systems.

Jaguar Land Rover has not named the attackers. The company is advising customers with orders in progress to stay in touch with local retailers. Normal operations will resume in phases as restoration work proceeds.
